From the beach it's the usual baits (Sandfleas, clams, fresh shrimp, and FishBites) producing the most bites. Bluefish reports have steadily improved over the past few weeks.A few sailfish and stray dolphin in 150-250' of water, but less than ideal conditions have kept the bite very very slow. Live goggle eyes and small blue runners are top bait choices, but don't overlook threads, pilchards, or sardines in these calm conditions. Trolling small ballyhoo, bonita strips, and squid have all been productive for the dolphin. It hasn't been huge numbers of dolphin; but the overall average size has been pretty good. As is very often the case this time of year the best depth has been all over the place; with some fish being caught in 200' and others in 1200'.
